2002 Jaguar S-Type Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
There's a reservoir trailhead area near West Santee that I get calls from more than you'd expect. People park, hike, and somewhere between the lot and the water, a key disappears.
That's exactly what happened with a guy who called me about his 2002 Jaguar S-Type. He'd hiked out, came back to an empty lot and an empty pocket. He backtracked the trail, checked with the ranger station, walked it twice. Nothing. The S-Type sat there in the afternoon sun and he had no way in and no way home.
He found me, I told him I could be there that afternoon, and I was.
First order of business was getting into the car without damaging anything. Once I was in, I connected through the OBD port, pulled the immobilizer data, and built him a new remote flip key on site. The 2002 model year keeps that process OBD-based, which meant no module pulling, no bench work, no tow required.
His car started in the same lot he'd been standing next to for two hours. He didn't say much, just looked at the key, then looked at me, then got in. Sometimes that's the whole reaction.
Getting it towed to a dealer from a trail parking area no flatbed was going to reach easily would have cost him real money before any key work even started. Doing it mobile, on site, saved him a good chunk of that.
