2018 Jeep Compass
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2018 Jeep Compass Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a chiropractor working out of his office near the Scripps Ranch area of San Diego. Before he dialed, he'd already looked up my BSIS license number on the state website.

He told me that upfront, not as a compliment, just as a fact. His last experience with an unlicensed guy left him holding a key that died in three weeks and a phone number that went nowhere.

He had a 2018 Jeep Compass and needed a working spare. One key, no backup, and his schedule didn't have room for a half-day at the dealer.

I pulled up to his parking lot, connected through the OBD port, and pulled the factory PIN through the security database. That step is what separates a real all-keys-lost or add-a-key job on a modern Jeep from someone just guessing with a budget tool. The PIN feeds the immobilizer enrollment, and without it you're not programming anything. Once I had it, I cut the replacement blade to his vehicle and enrolled the new fob. Tested every button, confirmed push-to-start, walked the door handles.

The whole job was done before his next patient.

He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a number that made him pause long enough to look for another option. He paid a fraction of that. But what he actually cared about was the receipt with a real license number, a real callback number, and a key that worked on the way home. That's the job.
