Out in Peutz Valley, up off the winding stretch past the old ranches, I got a call from a guy who was already frustrated before he even explained the problem.
Another locksmith had come out to program a spare key for his 2009 Jeep Liberty. The job went sideways halfway through. The locksmith bailed, charged him for the attempt, and told him to figure it out at the dealer. Now the Jeep wouldn't reliably recognize any key. Sometimes it would start. Sometimes it would sit there and give him a key warning on the dash and nothing else. He'd been dealing with it for four days.

I tested the start, the remote lock and unlock, and every button function before I closed anything up. Then I showed him the confirmation on my scanner screen so he could see for himself that the key was fully registered.
The Jeep started clean on the first turn.
He asked what the dealer had quoted to fix the mess. He hadn't called them yet, but he'd been dreading it. I told him I didn't charge extra for the cleanup work. Sorting out the damage from a bad prior attempt is just part of doing the job right the first time.
