2011 Jeep Liberty Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I was parked off Main Street in Downtown Santee when the call came in. A woman needed a spare key cut and programmed for her 2011 Jeep Liberty. She'd been meaning to get one made for months, kept putting it off, and finally decided to handle it after reading through a few of my reviews. She mentioned one in particular, said it described the vehicle, the parking lot, and what the tech actually did. That specificity is what got her to call.
I pulled up and she handed me her original remote head key. The fob itself was in rough shape, cracked housing, but it worked fine, which is all I needed. I used it to confirm the programming baseline, then got to work on the new unit.
The remote head key on the 2011 Liberty is a one-piece deal. You can't split the job between the blade and the electronics. Both sides, the cut and the chip programming, have to be done together. I cut the replacement blade to match her vehicle, then ran the programming sequence through my equipment to register the transponder and sync the remote functions to the car.
When it was done I handed it over and walked her through the test. Unlock from across the lot, lock, all five buttons, then the real one, key in the ignition and start. Three times, because one time proves nothing.
She asked if the dealer would have been a big deal. Honestly, for a spare key with a working original present, the dealer can do it. But she would have needed an appointment, dropped the car off, and paid significantly more. We did the whole thing in her parking spot in under 40 minutes.
She had a spare key by lunch.
