Out near the Viejas Area in Alpine, I got a call from a guy who stocked shelves overnight and needed his car working before his shift. His 2011 Forte had a smart key a different locksmith had made for him about two weeks earlier. It worked at first. Then it started getting inconsistent, locking and unlocking fine but sometimes failing to authorize the start. I cleared the enrolled keys, registered a correctly paired replacement fob with a fresh battery, and verified function across multiple start cycles right there in the lot.
He asked what the dealer would have charged and how long they would have taken. I told him days for an appointment and a lot more money. He just nodded and went to work.
