2022 Kia Forte Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
There's a neighborhood in San Ysidro Village where the streets are quiet past midnight. That's where I was parked on the curb when a third-shift worker called me about his 2022 Forte.
He'd worked a full overnight, walked out to his driveway, and his only fob wasn't waking the car up. No response on approach, nothing when he held it to the start button. He figured it was a tow situation and started mentally rescheduling his whole week.
I told him to stay put.
When I got there, the first thing I checked was the battery in the fob. CR2032, looked recent, but the contact had a slight bend from being pried open wrong at some point. I seated a fresh cell correctly and retested. The car still wasn't taking it, which told me the fob had lost its pairing, not just power.
I connected to the OBD port, pulled the PIN for his vehicle, and ran the all-keys-lost procedure. The system clears all registered fob data first, then you register the new key or keys in a single session. His fob, the five-button unit with the emergency blade tucked inside, paired clean on the first pass.
I walked every function before I closed up. Approach detection from both sides, the start button, the lock and unlock, and I had him try the emergency blade in the door just so he knew it was there and working.
He was back inside his house before 1 a.m. Never needed a tow, never needed a dealer appointment. The dealer comparison didn't even come up until he asked on his way in the door.
