2015 Lexus CT Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got the call around six in the evening. She was in a parking lot off Third Avenue Village in Chula Vista.
Her father had just finished an appointment with a specialist and she had him in a wheelchair next to the car. The CT would not respond. She pressed the start button, nothing. She held the fob directly against the button the way the manual describes for a low-battery backup, nothing. The dealer was already closed.
When I got there, I could see she had been standing outside for a while. She was calm but tired in the way people get when they are holding everything together for someone else.
I got the door open and started working. The fob battery had corroded the contact plate. It was not just a weak cell. The corrosion had interrupted the connection entirely, so the transponder chip inside was not transmitting at all. The vehicle security system had no signal to read, so the car treated it like no key was present.
I replaced the fob, ran the programming sequence through the diagnostic port to register the new unit, then walked through every function: door lock, door unlock, the trunk release, and the start button with the fob both inside and approaching from outside. Everything came back clean.
From her call to engine running was under fifty minutes. She got her father home that night, in his own car, without transferring a wheelchair into a rideshare.
The dealer quote came up briefly in conversation, just long enough for her to say she was glad she had not waited until morning. That was the end of it.
