A Carmel Valley customer called about a 2020 Lexus LC that had been showing a key-not-detected warning on the dash intermittently. The car would start fine some mornings. Other times she'd get the warning and have to hold the fob closer to the start button to get it to recognize. She assumed the fob was dying.

The battery was a CR2032 and it wasn't dead, but the contact plate had a slight bow to it from what looked like a previous pry-open, the kind of thing you see when someone uses a flathead instead of a proper tool. The cell wasn't making full contact.
I straightened the contact, seated a fresh CR2032, and confirmed the battery was solid on both terminals. Then I walked every function: passive door unlock at both front handles, the fob buttons, and start behavior with the fob at normal pocket distance versus across the cabin. Everything came back clean.
She asked if she needed to go to the dealer to have it looked at on their end. I told her the car wasn't throwing any stored faults and the key was communicating normally. Sometimes the fix is that small.
She had been mentally budgeting for a dealer visit and a possible fob replacement. Neither was necessary. I was back on the 56 in under an hour.
