2015 Lexus RC Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
The call came from a Fairbanks Ranch address in Rancho Santa Fe, mid-afternoon on a weekday. The owner had one working fob left and wanted a spare cut and programmed before she ended up with nothing. Reasonable thinking.
She mentioned she had already called the Lexus dealer. Parts had to order the fob, programming required a separate appointment after the fob arrived, and the service advisor told her to expect at least a week between those two steps. She had a schedule that did not leave room for two dealer trips plus waiting.
I pulled into the motor court, got the VIN, and confirmed the fob on hand matched what the RC needed. The factory FCC ID was right, the fob was correct for the vehicle, and the CR1632 she had in the existing key was actually fine. The one I was programming was a fresh unit.
Connected to the OBD port, ran the immobilizer pairing sequence, and had both fobs registered and confirmed in under 35 minutes. Cut the emergency blade to the vehicle, tested door lock, unlock, and the trunk release. Both fobs working. Then I walked her through where the emergency blade slot is on the door handle, because a lot of RC owners never need it and do not know where it is until they do.
She paid a fraction of the dealer's two-step quote. The dealer was going to charge for the fob, then charge separately for programming labor at the appointment. One visit, one price, done in her driveway.
