I got a call from someone in Ramona Highlands on a Tuesday morning. She was standing next to her 2017 Lexus RC in her driveway, and the car would not acknowledge the fob at all. The CR1632 contact clips were slightly splayed outward, probably from the first battery swap where someone used a coin and forced the case. I corrected the clips, reseated the battery, and verified every function: both door handle touch sensors, the start button response, the lock and unlock buttons, and the mechanical insert key in the door cylinder. Everything came back clean.
She watched the whole thing on the hood of her car. When I told her the fob did not need replacing, she asked me twice just to be sure. The dealer route would have had her waiting on a part and paying for something she never needed. This was a twenty-minute call in her own driveway.
