No key at all? On Porsche, AKL is more involved than many other brands because the immobilizer or KESSY module usually needs to be read directly, sometimes on the bench, to extract the security data and generate a new key file. But it's still a mobile job on most models. I build the key from scratch right at the car.
A trail runner at the canyon trailhead outside Otay Mesa lost his only smart key somewhere on the trail. He backtracked a mile, checked with other runners, and came up with nothing. His 2004 Porsche Boxster was sitting at the trailhead and he had no way to open it or start it. I told him I could be there that afternoon.
I used my HU66 Lishi to pick the door and get inside, then connected through OBD to read the immobilizer data, calculated the PIN and security codes, and programmed a new smart fob. His Key, FCC ID , was a 3-button car-shaped smart key. On his model year, the AKL procedure stayed OBD-based without needing a bench pull. I made him a spare too.
His car started in the same trailhead lot. Total was around $95. Dealer wanted $200 plus a tow from a canyon trailhead no flatbed was reaching quickly.
