2005 Porsche Boxster Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in the Garden Road Area of Poway, I got a call from a guy who had been trail running in the hills nearby. He came back to his 2005 Boxster and the key was gone. Checked his shorts pocket, checked the trail, checked with two other runners who had been parked nearby. Nothing. The car was sitting there locked and he had no spare.
He had already called Porsche roadside. They told him the car would need to go to a dealer and he should plan on waiting several days for a new key to be ordered and cut to the VIN. He called me instead.
I drove out to him. Picked the door, got inside, and worked through the replacement process at the car. The blade got cut to match the lock, and the security side got handled on site. No tow, no dealer wait, no multi-day turnaround.
The part that stayed with me was how resigned he was when I pulled up. He had mentally accepted the dealer timeline as the only option. When the car started in the same lot he had parked in that morning, he just sat there for a second like he was waiting for something to go wrong.
I made him a spare before I left. Dealer comparison was not even really the point. He just needed to get home, and that happened.
