I extracted the blade fragment from the lock cylinder, decoded the lock, and cut two new key blades. I transferred the intact circuit board into a fresh fob shell, verified all four buttons, confirmed the immobilizer was recognizing the key, and walked her through the emergency blade location in the new housing so she wouldn't be in this spot again.
Forty minutes, two working keys. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a number that made her hesitate for a week before calling me. That hesitation was the only part of the day that cost her anything.
