2020 Volkswagen Passat Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Flinn Springs, a home health nurse had her Passat parked in an apartment carport and her only key quit being recognized by the car. Not dead, not broken in half. Just gone from the system, the way these things sometimes go.
She had already called the dealer. They told her she would need a tow, an appointment, and a wait. She was looking at missing her first patient visit of the morning and rescheduling her whole day around a key.
I told her to stay put.
When I got there the car was sitting right in the carport under the overhang. She was on the phone canceling appointments. I connected to the OBD port, confirmed the key was no longer enrolled, and ran the all-keys-lost procedure for the Passat. New remote flip key, blade cut to the vehicle, transponder enrolled, remote functions programmed. I tested every button and confirmed the car would start before I packed up.
She made her first visit.
The dealer quote, once she added up the fob, the programming, and the tow they wanted, was a number that would have stung. She paid a fraction of that and did not move the car an inch.
The thing I told her, which I tell most VW owners, is that all-keys-lost on these does not require a tow or a dealer bay. It requires the right software and the right key. I have both in the van.
