2006 Volvo Xc70
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2006 Volvo Xc70 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Coronado Village on a Tuesday afternoon. The customer called from a parking lot near her dentist's office. Her 2006 XC70 needed a replacement key and she had already called the Volvo dealer. The closest one was the better part of an hour away without traffic, and the first available appointment was the following Monday. She commutes daily. Waiting six days was not realistic.

I drove to her in Coronado Village that same afternoon. She was still in the parking lot when I pulled up.

The job on a 2006 XC70 involves cutting the blade to match the vehicle and then programming both the transponder and the remote functions using Volvo-capable diagnostic equipment. I connected to the vehicle through the OBD port, ran the key enrollment sequence, and verified the immobilizer accepted the new key before I touched anything else. Then I confirmed all five buttons on the fob. Lock, unlock, and the remaining functions each got tested.

Total time from parking lot to her driving away was about 40 minutes.

The dealer quote she had gotten included a tow, because they would not program a key on a car that was not at their shop. Her car was running fine. She just needed a key. She paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted and drove home the same day she called.
