No key at all? I get these calls all the time. A lot of GMC owners only ever had one key to begin with, so when it's gone, it's gone. I build a new one from scratch right at the car. No original needed.

A weekend fisherman at the boat launch outside Thousand Oaks lost his only key somewhere between the dock and the parking lot early one morning. He checked his pockets, checked the boat, checked the truck bed. Nothing. His 2012 GMC Canyon was sitting in the gravel lot and he figured the truck was stuck there until he could get a tow to the dealer on Monday. I told him I could be there that afternoon.

So I used my HU100 Lishi to pick his door open and decoded every wafer position for exact cut depths. Then I connected through OBD and ran the GM all-keys-lost sequence, which clears any previous keys from the body control module and learns the new one as primary. His transponder key, FCC ID , was cut, programmed, and tested right there in the gravel. I cut him a spare too so he wouldn't be in this situation again.

His truck started in the same boat launch lot. Total was around 143. The dealer wanted 328 plus a tow and a Monday appointment. The whole process from lock decode to engine running took about 45 minutes.
