Got a call from a woman over in the Westlake Village area of Thousand Oaks. Her 2015 Canyon was sitting in her driveway with one working key left, and that one had a cracked shell held together with electrical tape. The part she kept watching was the cut. She leaned over the machine and said, "It's just doing it by itself." I told her it's reading the decode and following the bitting. She nodded like that explained everything.
Three start tests, all clean. No theft deterrent warnings on the dash, no crank-no-start hesitation. I handed her the new key and pointed at the taped-up original. She should really let me clone that one into a fresh shell before the blade snaps off inside the ignition. She said she'd call me back for that. Whole visit was about 25 minutes.
