Out in the Newbury Park area, a hiking guide pulled back to the trailhead lot and realized his key was gone. Somewhere on the trail, it slipped out of his pocket. His 2010 GMC Canyon was sitting in the dirt with no key and no spare, and the nearest GMC dealer was a long drive plus a long wait.
He called another locksmith first. That guy told him the ignition would probably need to be drilled and replaced. The quote climbed fast. He called me for a second opinion.
I used a B111 Lishi to decode his door lock, reading each wafer position inside the cylinder without removing or damaging anything. That gave me exact cut depths. I cut a fresh B111 blade on site, then ran the Passlock relearn through the BCM. The 2010 Canyon uses Passlock II, so the relearn is three 10-minute key-on cycles while the security light counts down. Thirty minutes of patience, basically.
His remote, the OUC60270 three-button unit, paired to the BCM as part of the same procedure.
No drilling, no new cylinder, no ignition assembly swap. When I left, his door lock worked with the new key exactly like it worked with the one he lost on the trail. He stood there turning it back and forth in the door a couple of times, like he was testing whether it was real.
The other locksmith's plan would have cost him a good chunk more and left him with parts he never needed replaced.
