She was closing up at the brewery near Ventura Music Hall after her bartending shift and her purse was gone. Someone grabbed it from behind the bar during the rush. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it. She borrowed a coworker's phone and called the police first, then her roommate, then me.

Her 2009 GMC Canyon was sitting in the lot with zero keys. The roommate had already called the dealer. Their answer: order the key, tow the truck in, three to five business days, and they recommended rekeying the doors since the stolen key could still physically open them.

I got there that night. All-keys-lost is a different job than adding a spare. When you add a key, the vehicle already trusts an existing one and just learns the new one. AKL means I wipe the entire learned key memory in the body control module so the stolen key is dead to the truck. I used my IM608 to access the BCM, cleared the old Passlock data, and programmed two new keys from scratch. Decoded the lock cylinder with my Lishi GM45, cut both keys on site, ran the Passlock relearn, and had the truck starting clean before the police finished taking her statement.

She drove home that night. The stolen key can still turn the ignition, but the engine will crank and die. It is locked out for good.
