2025 GMC Canyon
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in Ventura County

2025 GMC Canyon Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I was out near Casitas Springs on a Tuesday, wrapping up a call, when a message came in from a woman who walks dogs professionally in the Ventura area.

She had her 2025 GMC Canyon parked near the trailhead and needed a spare key cut and programmed. She said she'd looked at three different locksmiths online, and the one detail that made her pick me was a review from a previous customer who described exactly what happened during a GMC key job -- the parking lot, the process, how long it took. She said generic five-star reviews don't tell her anything. That one did.

I drove over and met her at the lot. She had the original 4-button remote and the working key with her, which makes the job cleaner. I pulled out the equipment, read the existing key data, and got a fresh fob and blade ready. Cut the blade on site to match, ran the programming sequence through the OBD port, and registered both remotes so she'd have a full working spare. Tested every button on both fobs. Tested the start three times with the new key. Range check from across the lot.

The whole thing took about 35 minutes. She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a wait of several days to get the part in, on top of whatever they charge. She left before I even packed up the tools.

I don't ask people to leave reviews. When the job is done right, in the location they're already at, in the time I said it would take, some of them just do.
