A guy in Eucalyptus Hills called me about his 2002 NSX. He had two keys when he bought the car and wore one down to near-useless over the years. The second was a copy made from the first copy, and it was starting to give him grief in the door lock. He was worried the ignition would be next.

I met him in his driveway off Eucalyptus Hills Road. He handed me both keys so I could compare them and decode the cut. The original was worn but still readable. I cut a fresh key to match the correct specification, then walked every lock on the car: door, ignition, glovebox. Smooth on all of them.
That was the whole job. No laptop, no scan tool, no tow truck. He looked a little surprised when I said we were done. He had already been bracing himself for a dealer appointment and whatever that was going to cost. Instead he stayed home, kept the car in the garage, and paid a fraction of what he was expecting.
The NSX sat low and quiet in the garage the whole time. I just made it a key that worked again.
