When the electronics survive, I can read the existing transponder data instead of going through a full all-keys-lost reset. That saves real time.
I transferred the working electronics into a new flip shell, cut a fresh replacement blade to the vehicle, and used my diagnostic equipment to verify the immobilizer recognized the key and the remote functions were syncing correctly. Then I programmed a second key from scratch so she'd have a spare for the first time since she bought the car.
She went from zero keys and a blade stuck in her door lock to two fully working keys in about 45 minutes.
The dealer conversation never came up. She just needed it done, and it was done.
