A guy in Buena Creek in Vista picked up a used 2007 BMW X3 from a private seller over in the next town. One key. Seller said to figure out a spare himself.

I read the immobilizer data, cut a new blade to match his lock, programmed the transponder, and synced the remote. Both keys walked out working.
He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted. But the part that stuck with him was understanding why that spare mattered, not just the price.
