I got a call from a guy parked near the Bressi Ranch shopping center, over by the restaurant row on Palomar Airport Road. His 2009 BMW X3 would start, but the remote had stopped working entirely. No lock, no unlock, nothing. He'd already swapped the CR2032 himself. Fresh battery, same result.

We transferred the transponder element, cut a new blade to his vehicle on the spot, and then reprogrammed the remote function through the OBD port. Took about forty minutes start to finish, most of that being methodical rather than complicated.
He mentioned the dealer had quoted him a number that made him pause before he even asked what the wait time was. He didn't need to hear the wait time. He called me instead. The job was done in his parking lot, and he drove home with a key that worked completely again.
