2002 Cadillac Deville Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
He had just walked out of his cardiologist appointment in San Marcos, near the CSUSM Area, prescriptions already called in and a pharmacy window closing in about an hour. He pressed the unlock button. Nothing. Pressed it again. Still nothing.
He tried the key in the door lock cylinder. Got in. Tried to start it. The engine turned over and died. Turned over and died again. That pattern right there told me exactly what I was dealing with before I even got on site.
He called me while still sitting in the parking lot.
When I got there I confirmed the blade was cut correctly and the lock cylinder was fine. The issue was the transponder side of his remote head key. The chip inside had likely taken enough heat and age that the immobilizer was no longer reading it reliably. On a good day it might still start. On that particular afternoon, it was done.
I cut a new key blade to match his ignition, programmed the replacement transponder key to the vehicle on site, and tested three cold starts back to back before I packed up. Total time from his call to him pulling out of that lot was under an hour.
He made the pharmacy with time to spare. He mentioned it was the first time in a while he had good news at the doctor and then came out to that. I just tried to make the rest of the afternoon boring in the best way possible.
