A guy in Fernbrook, Ramona called me on a Tuesday morning. Said he had one key left for his 2004 Dodge Neon and it snapped in the door lock the night before. Not in the ignition, just the door. He got inside, used the ignition with the stub of the blade still attached to the chip head, but he knew that wasn't going to last.

The Neon's immobilizer from this era communicates through a ring antenna around the ignition cylinder. New key goes in, the antenna reads the chip, the system clears it to start.
He still had the broken key, so I was also able to extract the blade remnant from the door lock while I was there. Two problems, one visit.
The dealer route would have meant a tow, a wait, and spending more. He paid a fraction of that, standing in his own driveway.
