I was already in Oceanside when the call came in, parked near San Luis Rey finishing up an earlier job. Friday night, around 9pm.
A couple had been at a movie and walked out to their 2017 F-350 to find the fob had gone completely dark. No response from the doors, nothing on the push-button start. They drove home that same Friday night. The dealer would have meant a flatbed, a Monday morning appointment, and a bill that was a fraction of what they would have paid me. Everything I needed was already in the van.
