2016 Hyundai Santa Fe
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2016 Hyundai Santa Fe Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

He was in Carmel Valley at the Korean BBQ when someone grabbed his jacket off the booth. Keys, wallet, phone, all of it gone before he knew what happened.

His 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe was sitting in the parking lot with zero keys in existence. His wife called the dealer first. They wanted the car towed in, quoted a multi-day wait, and recommended a full key memory wipe plus two new fobs since the stolen one could still access the vehicle. The total they floated was enough to ruin the rest of the week.

Then she called me.

I got there within the hour. All-keys-lost on this car means I pull the security PIN from the vehicle through the diagnostic port, clear the immobilizer memory entirely, and register new fobs from scratch. That process matters: once the memory is wiped, the stolen fob is electronically dead. It cannot start the car, and it cannot unlock the doors. It is just plastic at that point.

I registered two new fobs, confirmed all four buttons on each, and cut the emergency insert blade so he had a backup way in if a fob battery ever dies. Both fobs were working before the officer called back with the case number.

He drove home that night. The dealer's approach would have meant a tow, days without the car, and a number that made his wife's voice go tight when she repeated it to me. What they got instead was two working keys, same evening, and a stolen fob that does absolutely nothing now.
