2007 Hyundai Tiburon
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

Q: How long will a replacement remote head key last on a 2007 Tiburon?

The programming does not expire. Once the key is enrolled in the immobilizer, it stays enrolled. Battery is the only regular maintenance item, and on a remote head key like this one, a dying battery kills the remote buttons well before it affects anything else. Most owners get several years between changes. The housing on these older Hyundai remote head keys is actually pretty solid compared to some newer designs. Keep it off a heavy keychain and it will last.

Q: What if my new key stops working after a few weeks?

Call us. The work is covered. That said, when a properly programmed key on one of these stops being recognized, the vehicle side is worth looking at. The immobilizer antenna ring around the ignition cylinder can develop a weak signal over time on cars this age, and a marginal connection there will cause intermittent start failures even with a known-good key. We look at the whole picture, not just hand you another key and send you off.

Q: The car starts fine but my remote buttons stopped working. Do I need a full reprogram?

Probably not. On the 2007 Tiburon remote head key, the transponder that talks to the immobilizer and the remote that talks to the body control module are two separate functions in one housing. If the car starts normally, the immobilizer side is fine. Dead remote buttons on their own almost always come down to the battery in the key head. Swap the cell first.

Q: I bought a used replacement remote head key online. Can you just program it to my Tiburon?

Sometimes, with a caveat. A used remote head key may already be enrolled in another vehicle's immobilizer. Some of these can be cleared and re-enrolled, others cannot, depending on the state of the key's internal memory. If the key has never been programmed, we can work with it. If it has, we will tell you up front what we are dealing with before you spend money on a procedure that may not complete.

2007 Hyundai Tiburon Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Got a call early morning from a woman in Bressi Ranch, Carlsbad. She was trying to get out to a job placement and her 2007 Hyundai Tiburon remote head key had gone quiet overnight. Buttons did nothing. She was not sure if the car would even start.

I was there in under 20 minutes.

The car started fine, so the transponder side was still communicating. The remote portion was the issue. I tested the battery first, because on these remote head keys the battery lives right there in the housing and a dead cell will kill the buttons without touching the ignition function at all. Battery was shot.

Fresh cell, tested all the buttons, locked and unlocked from distance. Everything came back. She did not need a reprogram, did not need a new key, did not need a tow to the dealer.

She made her placement window. Paid a fraction of what a dealer would have quoted just to look at it, and that is before factoring in the tow she would have needed to get it there.

Hyundai Tiburon Mobile Service FAQ

Real costs, no dealer surprises

Do you use OEM or aftermarket keys on the 2007 Tiburon?▼

We use verified blanks built to the factory spec for this vehicle. The 2007 Tiburon remote head key has a specific transponder chip that has to match what the immobilizer is expecting. A fob that looks identical on the outside can have the wrong internal electronics, and you will not find out until programming fails or the car refuses to start. The cheap online listings for these are a real gamble.
