2008 Hyundai Tiburon Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

I got a call from a guy near Rolling Hills Ranch, right by the community center off Proctor Valley. He'd already paid another locksmith to cut and program a replacement key for his 2008 Tiburon. The key turned, the engine cranked, and then it died. Every single time. Two seconds of life, then nothing.

The first locksmith told him the immobilizer module had gone bad and walked off the job.

I've heard that before. It's rarely the module.

I pulled up to his place, connected through the OBD port, and checked the system status before touching anything else. The module was reading fine. What I found was exactly what I expected: a partial key registration. The previous tech had started the learn sequence but the confirmation step never completed. The key was in a kind of limbo -- present enough that the system acknowledged it, but not committed to permanent memory. So the car would crank, the immobilizer would check the key, find the registration incomplete, and kill fuel.

I cleared the failed key data, ran a clean PIN retrieval, and went through the full registration sequence without rushing the timed cycle. When the confirmation came back solid, I cycled the ignition a few times to verify. It started clean every time. No stall, no hesitation.

He watched the whole thing from about two feet away. When it started and stayed running, he just stood there for a second.

He'd already paid the first locksmith. I couldn't fix that. But his key worked, and that's what he needed.
