2014 Lincoln MKT Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy out in Bressi Ranch on a Saturday morning. He'd already been to the dealer earlier that week.
They told him they'd need to order the fob, get the car in on a specific day, and the wait could stretch past the following week. He found me, looked through my YouTube channel, watched an actual Lincoln key job filmed at a real car, and called.
When I pulled up, his MKT was sitting in the driveway. He had one working fob left and a second one that had stopped being recognized by the vehicle. The dash would throw a key-not-detected warning every time he tried to use the dead fob, even with a fresh battery he'd already swapped in himself.
I pulled up the vehicle's security data through the diagnostic port. The second fob had dropped out of the programmed key memory. It wasn't a hardware failure in the fob. It just needed to be re-enrolled. I re-registered both fobs so the vehicle had a clean, confirmed pairing on each one, then walked every function: touch unlock on both front handles, the liftgate release, push-button start, and range from across the driveway.
Both fobs worked clean. He asked me what would have happened if he'd waited for the dealer appointment. I told him he'd probably still be waiting.
He saved a good chunk compared to what the dealer quoted, and he didn't give up the car for a week.
