2012 Lincoln MKX
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2012 Lincoln MKX Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

Out in Flinn Springs, close enough to the hills that you lose cell signal if you park in the wrong spot, a retired attorney had himself a problem. He had been at a country club near the area, walked the driving range, came back to his 2012 Lincoln MKX, and the key was gone. Checked his pockets twice. Checked the cart. Retraced every step for twenty minutes. Nothing.

He had one key. A lot of used luxury car buyers end up that way. The previous owner hands over a single fob and that is the whole set. When it is gone, the car just sits there looking at you.

He figured his weekend was done and started pricing tows to the Lincoln dealer for Monday morning. Then he called me.

I was out there that afternoon. The MKX was locked, no key, no way in through normal means. I picked and decoded the door lock mechanically, read the wafer positions, and cut two new key blades from what I found. Then I opened the OBD port and connected my programmer. All-keys-lost on this system has a timed security countdown built into the immobilizer reset sequence. You just wait it out. Once it cleared, I erased whatever the old lost fob had registered and enrolled both new fobs fresh.

Tested every button, walked both doors, confirmed the engine started clean on both keys. Took maybe forty-five minutes total, most of that being the countdown timer doing its thing.

He had two working keys before dinner. The dealer route would have meant a tow, a Monday appointment, and a bill that made him wince when I mentioned the ballpark. He saved a good chunk going the mobile route, and he did not lose his whole weekend over it.
