She was at a shopping plaza in East Valley when her purse disappeared. Someone grabbed it off the back of her chair at a patio table. Keys, wallet, phone, gone. She borrowed a friend's phone, called the police, then her husband, then me.
Her 2016 Lincoln MKX was sitting in the lot with no keys at all. Her husband had already called the Lincoln dealer. They said three to five business days, bring the car in on a flatbed, and they strongly recommended a full key memory wipe since the stolen fob could still start the car. She had her car back that night. The stolen fob, if someone finds it, cannot start the MKX. It might still physically insert into a door lock, but the vehicle security system will not authorize the engine.
The dealer estimate came up once, briefly, on the way out. She just nodded and said she was glad she did not have to wait until Thursday.
