1999 Lincoln Town Car Transponder Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a rideshare driver over in Bear Valley, Escondido. He'd already had a bad experience. Someone he found through a discount ad showed up, cut him a key, charged him a lot, and the car still wouldn't start.
The theft light stayed on, engine cranked but never caught. Classic sign the blade was cut fine but the transponder never got paired to the immobilizer. He'd been borrowing his wife's car for three days by the time he called me.
He asked how he could verify I was legit before I showed up. Fair question, and I respect it. I gave him my BSIS license number on the phone and told him to look it up on the state website while we talked. He did.
When I got there, the situation was exactly what it sounded like. The previous key had been cut to the vehicle but never programmed. The immobilizer had no record of the chip at all. I used my programmer to register the transponder properly to the vehicle, and then I verified it the right way: key in, theft light flashes once and goes out, engine starts and stays running. That's the confirm.
He paid a fraction of what the dealer quoted him for a replacement. More importantly, he had a working key the same afternoon he called, not three days later after a tow and a dealer appointment.
