2004 Lincoln Town Car Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A guy near the CSUSM Area called me about his 2004 Lincoln Town Car. His remote head key blade had snapped off inside the door lock cylinder. Not bent, not stuck. Broken clean, with the stub still seated in the keyway.
A different locksmith had already looked at it and told him the cylinder needed to come out. Drill it, replace it, rekey the new one to match. He was quoted a number that made him keep searching for other options.
I carry a lock pick and decoder set for Ford-family cylinders. I worked the broken fragment out without touching the wafer surfaces, then read each wafer position right off the cylinder face. No guessing, no damage. From that decode I cut two new key blades on the spot.
Both blades operated the door and ignition smoothly. Then I ran the programming sequence through the OBD port to register the transponder chips and sync the remote functions on both keys. Tested locks, tested start, tested the remote buttons. Everything live before I packed up.
The cylinder looked exactly the same as when I arrived. No drill marks, no new hardware, nothing to explain to a future buyer.
He mentioned what the first locksmith had quoted. I just nodded. Destructive entry is the right call sometimes, but it should be the last option, not the first one a tech reaches for.
