2007 Nissan Quest Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call from a guy in Rancho Santa Fe Village who works from home, which meant he was on a deadline and his Quest was sitting in his driveway going nowhere.
He'd lost his only key. Not misplaced -- lost, as in gone. He'd already called the dealer, and the dealer told him they needed the car brought in. He didn't push back on that, he just called me next.
I pulled up to his place and set up at the curb. The OBD port is right where you expect it on these, low on the driver's side dash. I connected my tool, pulled up the key registration system, and confirmed this was an all-keys-lost situation with no working keys in memory.
The process on a 2007 Quest is deliberate. The tool has to clear the existing key data and then write in the new one. There's a timed sequence to it, and you don't rush it. I cut the blade to match his locks while the tool was working, so nothing was wasted.
When it was done, I handed him a fully working remote head key -- one unit, blade and fob together, battery installed, all four buttons live. He tested it in the driveway. Unlocked, locked, popped the liftgate release, started the car.
He mentioned what the dealer had quoted him and then said he was glad he didn't have to figure out how to get the van there without a key. That part kind of said it all.
