It was a Saturday night, somewhere around 10pm, and a group of friends came out of a Korean BBQ spot near the Lake Poway Area to find their 2016 Quest sitting silent. The Intelligent Key fob had died while they were eating. Nobody knew about the backup start procedure. Swapped the CR2032, confirmed the remote functions came back, and walked them through the backup start hold point so they'd know it for next time. Then I ran through the door handles and the start button to make sure everything was responding the way it should before I packed up.
They drove home that same night. The dealer option would have meant leaving the van in a parking lot until Monday and then waiting on the service lane. That's a different kind of weekend.
