2011 Nissan Quest Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out near the CSUSM area in San Marcos, I got a call from a Quest owner who was parked at one of the side lots off Twin Oaks Valley Road. She had just done a school drop-off run and the van would not acknowledge the fob at all. Touch the handle, nothing. Walk up to the door, nothing. The start button was just sitting there ignoring her.
She had already tried holding the fob closer to the button. That trick sometimes works when the battery is nearly dead, and it bought her enough signal to get it started once. But now even that wasn't working.
I pulled up, and before I touched anything diagnostic, I asked when she last changed the battery. She said she hadn't, not since she bought it used two years ago. The fob was the factory original with the factory CR2032 still in it.
Swapped the battery on the spot. Reseated it clean, checked the contacts inside the fob housing. Tested all the door handles, the start button, and the sliding door release on both sides.
It came right back. Every function, working the way it should.
She asked if I needed to reprogram anything. I told her no, the fob was fine, the van was fine, the battery was just done. No programming, no new hardware, nothing dramatic.
She mentioned the dealer had quoted her a full fob replacement and programming when she called them earlier that morning. She saved a good chunk by the time I left. And I was on site in under twenty minutes from when she called.
