2017 Nissan Quest Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
It was a July afternoon in Otay Mesa, over in the Ocean View Hills area, and a guy had just finished his grocery run. Frozen stuff in the back of his 2017 Quest, sun hammering the parking lot, and his fob had gone completely dark.
Doors wouldn't respond. He tried the backup start routine against the start button, nothing. The internal contact had corroded enough that even the close-range signal wasn't getting through.
He called the dealer first. Next available appointment was the following day.
Then he called me. I was fifteen minutes out.
Once I got the door open using the mechanical insert key built into the fob, I connected to the OBD port and pulled up the Intelligent Key module. The fob was done. The battery had been dead long enough that corrosion had worked into the contact points inside the housing, and no amount of battery swapping was going to fix that. I replaced the fob, registered it through the diagnostic tool, and ran through everything: door lock, unlock, the start function, the whole range.
From his phone call to engine running was 38 minutes. The dealer was quoting a next-day appointment and a price he said made him wince. Groceries made it home fine.
