2014 Nissan Quest
Key Replacement - Save vs Dealer in San Diego

2014 Nissan Quest Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional

A home inspector over in Seven Oaks, Rancho Bernardo, called me on a Monday morning from an apartment carport. His 2014 Quest had one key, that key was dead, and he had a full slate of inspection appointments that week he could not push.

He had already called the dealer. Wednesday was the earliest they could take him, and that assumed he could get the car there on his own. He was staring at a tow bill on top of the key bill, plus two days of canceled work. For a self-employed guy billing by the job, that math gets painful fast.

I was at the carport that same afternoon with my programming equipment and a blank fob ready to cut and pair. The Quest Intelligent Key system requires diagnostic equipment to register a new fob, so I connected at the OBD port, ran the Nissan key registration sequence, and enrolled the new key into the vehicle security system. Cut the blade to match his door and ignition, seated the CR2032, and tested every function at the car: door lock, door unlock, the liftgate release, and start. Everything confirmed before I touched anything else.

He was back on the road the same day he called. The dealer comparison barely came up. He just needed the problem solved before it cost him more than the key did.
