I got a call from a woman in the Sweetwater area of National City. She was coordinating a catering setup at a venue and her 2010 Nissan Rogue had stopped responding to her fob entirely.
The car was sitting in the parking area, the event was loading in two hours, and she needed to move the Rogue before the supply trucks arrived. She was calm on the phone but I could hear the pressure in her voice.

Quick adjustment, clean contacts, seated the battery correctly. Then I connected through the OBD port to verify the fob registration was still intact in the vehicle security system, because a contact issue that severe sometimes trips a fault in the module.
Registration was fine. Once the contact was solid, the system picked the fob right back up.
I walked every function: touch unlock on both front handles, push button start, lock button, all of it. Everything came back clean. She moved the car out of the lot with an hour and a half to spare.
She did not need a new fob. She did not need a tow. She needed someone who would show up, work methodically, and not start replacing parts before diagnosing the actual problem.
