I was parked off Via de Santa Fe near the Village when she called. A woman out in Rancho Santa Fe, in the Village area, needed a spare key made for her 2016 Rogue. She had one working fob and wanted a backup before anything went wrong.
Before I even picked up, she had looked me up. She told me straight out she had verified my license number through the state, confirmed the company name matched, and checked that the van had signage. The 2016 Rogue Intelligent Key uses a diagnostic tool to register a new fob. I pulled up, confirmed the existing fob was reading correctly, connected the tool at the OBD port, went through the Intelligent Key registration sequence, and added the new fob to the system. Then I tested the new fob against every function: door lock, door unlock, the fifth button, and verified the start button was reading it from inside the cabin. Then I tested the original fob again to confirm it was still registered. Both working.
The whole job took about 35 minutes in the shade of the parking area. She paid a fraction of what the dealer had quoted her. Real receipt, real license number, real phone number, real company name.
That's all she was asking for.
