A guy out in San Diego Country Estates called me about his 2014 Rogue. He'd had a key made by another locksmith maybe two weeks before and now the push-to-start was throwing a key-not-detected warning on and off. Not every time. Just enough to make him nervous every morning before work.

Some chips will pass the initial registration because the security handshake is close enough at enrollment, but the immobilizer does a deeper check over successive drive cycles. That's exactly what was happening here. It worked fine the first week and then started drifting.
I registered a correct replacement fob matched to the factory FCC ID, confirmed the chip, and ran through all four buttons plus the backup start function before I called it done. Tested it across two cold starts. No warning. No hesitation.
He mentioned the original shop had quoted him something steep to fix what they broke. He paid a fraction of that to me instead.
