2002 Porsche 911 Remote Flip Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
She had three hours before a charity gala and her 2002 Porsche 911 was sitting dead at the venue entrance in Santee, out near the Fanita Ranch area.
She was the event coordinator. The trunk had auction items in it. The dealer was closed. She called me.
I was about twenty minutes out when she reached me. When I got there, the first thing I did was get her into the car and the trunk clear so the items were safe and accessible. Then I could focus on the key.
She had her original remote flip key. It looked fine. The battery was good. But the car would not start and the immobilizer warning was sitting on the dash. I pulled the key apart and found a cracked solder joint on the internal board, the kind of damage that comes from one good drop on a hard surface. The chip was intact, the board was the problem.
I transferred the working components to a fresh key shell, programmed it through the OBD port, and ran through every function: remote lock, remote unlock, and confirmed the immobilizer was accepting the new enrollment.
From her phone call to engine running was 48 minutes. She made the gala, greeted the donors, and ran the auction without a single person at the event knowing anything had gone sideways.
The dealer would have been closed until the following business day and would have charged a good chunk more on top of that. The gala could not wait until Monday.
