I got a call from a performance shop over in Shadowridge, Vista. Not a typical "lost my key" call. Another locksmith had already been out to do an all-keys-lost procedure on a customer's 2011 Porsche 911, and something went sideways during the keyless entry module read. The module locked up. The car wouldn't recognize any fob at all, not the customer's remaining spare, not a freshly cut and programmed unit. Nothing. The shop had been sitting on the car for two days when they called me.

The shop owner watched the whole thing and asked good questions. I walked them through what had failed and why the bench approach was the only path forward at that point.
Total time was close to two and a half hours. Not a quick job, but it was the right one. The alternative was a tow to the dealer and a wait time that would have stretched into the following week. I carry the bench tools because sometimes the first approach hits a wall, and the car still needs to get fixed.
