2010 Porsche 911 Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
A shop in Spring Valley, over in the Bancroft area, called me on a Tuesday afternoon. An independent Porsche specialist had a 2010 911 on the lift mid-suspension job. The owner had dropped off one key. Somewhere between the intake check and pulling the rear wheels, that key walked off. Best guess was it got swept into the drain with a shop rag. Nobody saw it go.
The customer was due back in three hours. The car had no other key on file, no spare at home. The shop needed a working key before that customer walked through the door, and they needed it without towing the car anywhere.
I showed up while the tech was still torquing down the control arms. Ran the process through the OBD port, read what I needed out of the immobilizer, generated a replacement key matched to this vehicle, cut the blade, and had it starting the engine before the alignment rack was even warmed up.
The tech gave it one test drive around the block. Locked it, unlocked it, confirmed every button function. Happy. Went back to finishing the job.
The customer picked up on time, new key in hand, never knowing there had been a problem. The shop owner told me later the dealer had quoted them days out and a figure that made the service advisor wince. We handled it in the parking lot in about two hours. That was it.
