2020 Subaru Crosstrek Smart Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Out in Bonsall, a teacher had just picked up a 2020 Subaru Crosstrek from an auction lot in Fallbrook. Clean car, decent price, one key. First thing she did was call the Subaru dealer about a spare.
The number they gave her was not what she expected from a Subaru. She found EZ Car Keyz and asked me if the dealer quote was real. I told her it was, and that I do the same job for a lot less.
I met her at the lot before she drove the car home. She handed me the one working fob and we stood in the parking lot while I got to work. The job was an add-a-key, meaning her original fob stayed enrolled the whole time. I used my diagnostic equipment to register a second fob to the vehicle security system without wiping anything out, then cut the emergency insert blade to match her door lock.
She stood there watching and asked if the dealer would have done it in a parking lot. I told her they would have needed the car for a day, maybe ordered the part first, and called her when it was ready.
Her spare worked on the first try. Lock, unlock, start. She had two fully working keys and drove home the same afternoon. The practical part is what mattered to her: if she loses one key now, the next job is a simple add-a-key. Lose both and it becomes a longer all-keys-lost procedure. Having that second key already in her pocket changed her odds.
