2023 Subaru Crosstrek Remote Head Key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
I got a call out to Crest, which is that quiet hillside stretch east of El Cajon proper. The guy had one key for his 2023 Crosstrek and it had been his only key since he bought it used. He knew he should have gotten a spare cut sooner. He just kept putting it off, the way most people do until the moment it becomes a problem.
His key still worked. He wasn't locked out. He wanted a second key made before something went wrong, which is honestly the best time to call because there's no tow, no stress, no standing in a parking lot trying to figure out a ride.
He'd already called the Subaru dealer. They told him they'd need to order the fob, it would take a few days to come in, and then he'd have to bring the car back for a programming appointment. He asked if they could just do it that day. They couldn't. So he looked around and found me.
I showed up with the replacement key already sourced and ready. Pulled up alongside his Crosstrek in the driveway, connected to the OBD port, ran the add-a-key sequence through the immobilizer, and cut the blade to match his vehicle. The whole thing was done while he was finishing lunch inside.
He tested every button in the driveway. Lock, unlock, the whole sequence. Started the car twice just to be sure. It worked the first time because the programming was done right the first time.
The dealer comparison was an afterthought at that point. He saved a good chunk and didn't lose a week waiting on parts and appointments.
