Not every VW owner lives near a dealer. An organic farmer on his property outside Chula Vista had a 2006 Volkswagen Golf that needed a new key. The nearest VW dealer was over an hour each way. I worked on the car at his farmhouse. His VW uses an HU66 flip key with an ID48 transponder chip. I used my VVDI2 to read the PIN and component security code, then precoded the chip and programmed it through OBD. His flip key, FCC ID NBG92596263, was a 4-button remote that I tested at the property. He seemed pretty impressed the whole thing could happen next to a tractor.
Two working keys before I left. Total was $204. The dealer route would have been $415 plus two hours of driving or a long tow bill. For rural VW owners, mobile is the only realistic option.
