2005 Dodge Dakota Remote head key Replacement - Fast, Affordable & Professional
Do you need to tow your 2005 Dodge Dakota to the dealer? Almost certainly not. For most Dodge models from the late 2000s through the early 2020s, I handle all-keys-lost right at the vehicle.
A home care worker in a manufactured home community in Oxnard had her only Fobik stop working one morning before her first patient visit. Her Dakota was in the carport and push-to-start wouldn't recognize the fob. She assumed a tow was the only path and started rearranging her patient schedule. I told her to stay put and that I'd come to her.
I connected my Smart Pro to the OBD port and ran the Dodge smart key all-keys-lost procedure, which walks through the security handshake, reads the PIN, clears old key data, and learns new fobs step by step. Her remote head key, FCC ID KOBDT04A, was a 4-button smart key with an emergency blade inside. I programmed it in her carport before 9am. She seemed pretty relieved when the push-to-start lit up on the first press.
Her total was about 185. The dealer would have been 395 plus the tow. There are a small number of very new Dodge platforms where aftermarket tools don't cover AKL reliably, and those do need the dealer. But for the vast majority on the road, I do all-keys-lost on-site every week. If yours is an exception, I'll tell you straight up instead of wasting your time.

Real Emergency, Real Relief
Stranded drivers who found relief
“They responded instantly, showed up within an hour, and arrived exactly when they said they would. Made a copy and programmed a fob for my 2014 car with a worn ignition in about 15 minutes. The new key works perfectly and feels like a dealer key.”
“My son had an issue opening the driver door on his Honda Civic. I called on New Year's Day and expected a nightmare, but they arrived quickly and fixed the problem in about half an hour.”
“I needed a new key for my car and Marco gave me the best quote by far. He showed up, made the new key on the spot, and everything works perfectly. Fast service and great value.”
